If You Wake Up on the Wrong Side of the Bed, Swing by Our Gold Coast Shop and Pick Up Some Flowers
If you are having a bad day, stop off at your local florist on the way home from work and buy a bouquet of flowers. Research has shown that flowers make people happy. In fact, a recent study conducted at Harvard University uncovered these findings:
Flowers feed compassion. Participants in the study who lived with fresh-cut flowers felt an increase in feelings of kindness and compassion.
Flowers help those with anxiety and worries. The study showed that people who keep flowers around the house simply feel less negative towards just about everything. Most of the study participants kept the flowers in rooms where they spend a lot of time. They kept flowers in their bedrooms so it was the first thing they saw when they woke up in the morning. As it turns out, the morning blues are quite real, but waking with full bloomed flowers helped change this phenomenon. It seems the feelings associated with happiness don’t manifest until later in the day. However, flowers on the nightstand greeting you in the morning will perk you right up.
Having flowers in your home will provide you with a boost of energy. This positive energy carries over to the workplace. The study showed people with flowers in their homes felt as though they were more enthusiastic about work. Those conducting the study were quite surprised by the long-lasting effects flowers had on people’s moods. In a sense, it is mood contagion as this positive effect of flowers seems to influence how others feel. That is, those who didn’t live with flowers felt happier just by hanging out with those who did.
So, if you wake up on the wrong side of the bed, swing by our Gold Coast shop and pick up some flowers. They will bring a smile to your face.
