Buying flowers on the Gold Coast.

It may not seem like rocket science when you go out to purchase flowers, but there are a few tips and tricks you should know.  When you are buying flowers on the Gold Coast, keep in mind that flowers keeps outside on the sidewalk or in window displays will be exposed to the harsh heat from the sun and potentially harmful car fumes.  Pay attention to the stems and make sure they are green or white and freshly cut--if they are dark, dry, or curling, it's a sign that they are old.  The flowers should always be kept in clear, clean water (unless they're tulips, which will not harm these flowers.)  Finally, check the leaves and the petals.  If there is any yellowing or signs of blotching on the leaves, don't buy.  And some flowers should be bought while closed or just starting to open, while others are best purchased fully bloomed.  Ask your florist for more advice on specifics!
