This evening, it was with a heavy heart I delivered flowers to the Coomera CIB office at the Coomera Police station.  Arriving at the front doors there is a small unassuming box of ribbons with a donation box placed in the centre of the locked doors, a simple but poignant reminder of the reason for my visit.  A policeman walks my way and quietly offers to take me through to the offices of the Coomera CIB.

Walking through the empty corridors I ponder on the surreal atmosphere after the devastating loss of Detective Senior Constable Damian Leeding where just days ago he turned up for work unaware of the events that would lead to the sudden and senseless loss of his life. 

Adding the arrangement in my arms to the large collection of cards, flowers and tributes, my thoughts and prayers go out to his family, colleagues and friends. God give them strength in the coming days and months.

DSC Damian Leeding will be farewelled at a police funeral with full honors on Tuesday from 11AM at the Gold Coast Convention Centre, Broadbeach, Queensland, Australia.

May he rest in peace.
