Reunite with Mooncake.Mooncake

Mooncake (simplified Chinese: 月饼; traditional Chinese: 月餅; pinyin: yuè bĭng)

Next Monday Chinese Mid Autumn day when the moon in that night is the fullest and brightest in the year. A tradition of celebration in China that dates back over 3000 years.

To celebrate, my dear Chinese friend ‘Steven’ suggests:  “Stay with the family, have a good cup of tea, look up at the full silver moon at its fullest and brightest and enjoy the fragrant moon cake. This is the supreme happiness of life.”

Traditionally Mooncake is a symbol of reunion and is made from Lotus seed paste and surrounded by a thin crust.

Other Lantern Festival traditions include:

  • Carrying brightly lit , lighting lanterns on towers, floating lanternssky lanterns
  • Burning incense in reverence to deities including Chang'e
  • Erect the Mid-Autumn Festival.(树中秋,竖中秋,in China,树 and 竖 are homophones)It is not about planting trees but hanging lanterns on the bamboo pole and putting them on a high point, such as roofs, trees, terraces, etc. It is a custom in Guangzhou, Hong Kong, etc.
  • Collecting dandelion leaves and distributing them evenly among family members
  • Fire Dragon Dances
  • In Taiwan, since the 1980s, barbecuing meat outdoors has become a widespread way to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival.

Create your own lanterns by placing some sand into the bottom of a paper bag and pop a tea light in the centre. Tea-lights-in-paper-bags-for-wedding-decorations-Florists-Gold-Coast-Botanique-Flowers-Gold-Coast
